[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Satin Bowerbird, Ptilonorhynchus violaceus is a bowerbird common in rainforest and tall wet sclerophyll forest in eastern Australia from southern Queensland to Victoria. There is also an isolated population in the Wet Tropics of north Queensland.
You can tell why they call him a satin Bower bird by the reflection of light from its blue feathers.
They are very hard to get close to, so the best way to photograph is to use bananas (which they are very fond of)within an area they fly to frequantly. Be very still, quite and have lots of patience and hopefully you get a good shot. Not as good as I'd like this shot to be but waiting and waiting just to get a little closer was all worth it.

This is an amazing bird, aptly named. It must be hard to photograph those shiny contrasting feathers. I like the pov here as he rushes off with his lunch! Great colours, sharpness and DOF. Looks great against the dark background.
