[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Its not always fine and sunny in Australia, winter can be miserable.
On this day the temperature didnít rise above 10 deg C and the cold southerly wind made it feel only half that temperature.

These are Silver Gulls (Larus novaehollandiae), the smallest and most common gull in Australia. They have a wingspan of just under a metre and are distributed around the coast of the continent and along major waterways inland.
I found this group resting at a car park behind the beach and I liked the contrast between the grass and the stormy background.

Thanks for looking.

Outstanding image, Chris!
the contrast works very well indeed and the colours are rich, made all the richer b that stormy grey background
Superb work

Hi Chris
Very good composition, and great format.

Excellent the way they are engrossed with each other and unaware of you!
Well done sir...

Hi Chris,
it's good to hear you also have a cold winter, my friend.
The gulls looks a bit cold. Good details, fine colours and lighting.
Well composed with good POV.
Well done.

Great composition and contrast. They almost look they're asleep.

Hi Chris, excellent detail on these guys with very good control of the light. Very nice low vantage point on your part, and I like how you've cropped this frame. I too like the contrast, but I like it between the birds with those very white feathers and everything else.

Thanks, John

Hello Chris

We call that kind of weather in Winter a mild day.lol.I really like this flock toughing it out.The clarity is very good, and the beaks and feet really are well saturated. The stormy sea makes a wonderful backdrop that tells a tale.TFS
