For my first post on this terrific site I wanted to share these two beauties with everyone. They were making a racket behind my tent at Lake Tinaroo in Cairns.
Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus)
Whilst they are considered to be pests by the Australian Government (because they can damage fruit trees and 70-90% of food crops when they decide to eat them) and people can be fined for letting a pet Rainbow Lorikeet go free, they are one of the most strikingly coloured parrots of the 328 species in the SW Pacific, and they have quite a friendly disposition. |

You make a great start with the Rainbow Lorikeet shot feeding on the Bottle Brush flowers. Nice composition, POV, colours and pretty good sharpness.

How lovely, bright and summery! Just what we need to see here up the north! Lovely capture of these two Lorikeets camouflaged amongst the red flowers. Very sharp details and beautiful colours. A fine composition too.
