[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi everyone,

here's a picture of starry skies above Lake Tinaroo, Atherton Tablelands, QLD, Australia. This is a panorama made from 2 shots joined together.

This was taken on Christmas night last year, just before the moon came up, which is the light you see.

I was out camping so there was very little light from other sources except the moon and the stars, so perfect for photos. I'd never attempted stars before this so i was pretty happy with the results for a first go.

It's a dark starry night, and the stars shine out rather well, considering the moon is just about rising. How wonerful to capture them so well Gethin.

Hi Gethin,

you can be proud of your first star shot!
Your concept was right, setting iso speed to 800 and ap. to 5.6, keeping time as low as possible, at a wide angle making the stars (ok, the earth to be correct :) move just a little. And at the same time the expo was fine for the other parts of the picture too.
The whole image looks fine. Stitching done well too.

Hi Gethin,

A magnificent picture of a starry night with the moon just rising. You got it just right. I would not have thought this was two shots seamed together. One of the most beautiful night skies I have ever seen.

very cool shot, we just don't get skies like this anymore, bl**dy light pollution! Nicely done technically and the PP stitching is good too, good work mate.
