[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the last shot I took of the Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita) digging a home. One of the birds came out of the hole, to clean up, and though it was a little dusty I liked how it ruffled up the feathers for the process. I have included another shot, please see Workshop, from the initial set, with one cockatoo digging and one watching.

Workflow for this shot was as follows:
The shoot shot in Raw with Jpeg reference (210 mm ISO 400 f5.6 1/500)
NEF file adjusted for exposure, shadow, vignetting, brightness and contrast
Levels adjusted manually
Curves - adjusted RGB for contrast very slight s-curve
Dodged and Burned with overlay layer (5-10% opacity white and black)
Added saturation layer +20 to master masked grass
Saved as a tiff
for this post crop for position, resized, created a new layer, selectively sharpened through use of a mask layer, framed and saved as a jpeg.

Hello John,
Good details in the plumage!
The white bird is well exposed, and the yellow feathers add an extra attention catcher...

Hi John,
What a lovely cleaning up time of this beautiful cockatoo my friend in all aspects.

Hello John. The white bird tends to get flushed under the light but you have managed the clarity well here. The plumage is well seen with sharpness that is pristine. Nice pose on the contrasting green grass and thanks for sharing. Well done and have a wonderful weekend ahead. Regards. Jusni
