The Tallawarra wetlands were good to us this day and we shot a number of butterflies, dragonflies and birds. This is a Slender Skimmer (Orthetrum Sabina) a widespread dragonfly found through eastern and northern Australia, Indonesia, south-east Asia, India, Middle East and northern Africa. They have a wingspan of around 80mm. They are found in a range of wetlands and slow moving streams.

Aha, my favourite dragonfly from Australia, Chris!
It is my favourtie because I have found it most cooperative during shooting. It returns to the same perch again and again and allows me to get very close.
Very nice POV. The subject is in sharp focus against, I presume, the sky.
Excellent details and colours.

Hello Chris, superb macro capyure of this Slender Skimmer. TFS. Regards,

Hello Chris,
A superb portrait of a Slender Skimmer with fine technical standard and from a great POV. The greyish bokeh BG is ideal to set it off. Is it a cloudy sky?
This species even occurs on the Island of Rhodes in Europe, one of the few dragons found in both Australia and Europe, though I have never seen it.
TFS this beauty,

Hi Chris!

This insect is very attractive.
Greetings Diego.

Hola Chris.
La pose y el angulo de vista, asi como la nitidez de la imagen hacen de esta presentacion una joya. Hermoso el fondo difuso y la iluminacion lograda aqui.
Saludos Chris.

Hello Chris,
I'd love to see one of these slender dragonflies, they're so beautiful! You've caught it in a fine pose here against a plain background that makes it really stand out. Great sharpness and beautiful colours too.

This time only a short comment. This is a very nice, sharp and colourful profile of Orthetrum species. I like contrast between insect and BG too :)
