This is a picture from my first trip to Australia.
I never heard before of sand islands with 80 m tall trees in a rainforest, ice cold creeks with air temperature of 30°c +, freshwater lakes, rainbow gorges, never saw wild Dingos or Brumbies, never drove 70 KM on a beach with huge ship wrecks in a car, never saw goanas, grey kangaroos, pytons etc.
And I never came to a lake as beautifull and clear like this. The beach was absolutelley clean and so soft and white. The campsites right off the beach and what made me almost lose my mind - no other people around - like a private property. I took a swim and spent the night on the soft warm sand with a multi billion shining stars, milky ways and colourfull planets above my head. It was my second week in Australia and every single day almost knocked me out. I still feel cold showers running down my back when I remember the scene.
I have to admit that the feeling goes on - with every new trip and on every new day. Austrlia is larger than life - It is better than any drug and you can buy it legaly in the travel agency next corner.

Looks like paradise Thomas. Clear blue sea, white sandy beach and a beautiful blue sky with hint of cloud. I like the tree in the foreground. It gives the shot excellent perspective. Nice work. Thanks.

Hello Thomas!
I'm impressed of this amazing photo! Wonderful colours and just miraculous atmpsphere! PERFECT SHOT!

I share your enthusiasm, Thomas, it's a great place. A wonderful scene you have captured, here, very inviting! Quite a lot of vignetting, though.
Andy.

You took this almost 20 years ago and still speak of it as though it were yesterday, now that is a fantastic experience!
It is near the top of my To Do list, as of right this moment, (it was pretty close before).
Well done on this most inviting scene and wonderful note.
A great composition, with excellent color, detail, lighting. Thank you.

it seems a place in rio de janeiro called by "cabo frio". but nowadays the people invaded there, and changed a lot the place. I think it is good to know that there is a place like that in the world! :)
The sand and the forest remembered me the abaeté lake in bahia (brazil), that is so baeutiful as this place in australia, but unfortunately there is many thieves as the the sun rays! they stole my camera :(
nice to know you think it is better than drugs ^_^
This picture would be great in TrekEarth. Do you have an account there?
