Calls
Loud, shrill, repeated: 'hek-ek-ek', with females lower-pitched than males.
Being very vocal about my intrusion gave the position away for this Peregrine. Apparently this pair raised two more chicks this season, (although I have not seen them)I suggest all the noise was because the fledged chicks were in the vicinity some where as was the female who flew along the creek shortly after this was taken. In my experience with this location the chicks usually fledge in the early weeks of November, indicating that they should have been flying for about three weeks.
The image is cropped from the original and sharpened as I was a considerable distance from the bird. |
