The Australian King Parrot (Alisterus scapularis) is a spectacular bird inhabiting in eastern Australia. It is found in forests not far from coasts. They feed on fruits, seeds or small insects.
There is a strong sexual dimorphism : the female has a green head, a green neck and a black beak. The male has scarlet head and neck, and a red-orange beak. Both sexes are about 43 cm.

Hello Philippe,
What a pretty parrot, I have never seen one of this color before. It reminds me a lot of our Scarlet Tanagers with it's vivid red and black colors. Captured very nicely while it perched high up in the tree tops. Well done!!
