Western Spinebill - Male
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|And now for the male Western Spinebill (Acanthorhynchus superciliosus). Dasher than the female (found at http://www.treknature.com/gallery/Oceania/photo304020.htm). I think they have a nest nearby.|
I believe this species is a first for TrekNature.

Your male is even more colorful then the female and has posed so nicely for you. Very attractive markings and fine looking body features. I especially like it's long curved bill and black face mask. The rufous patches on it's throat and nap contrasts nicely with the white and black markings on it's head. That bright red eye catches your attention immediately. You were fortunate to have it pose beside the red blooms which is a big bonus and adds much to the overall beauty of the image. Great shot!!

Nice to see the birds from Australia. Not frequently seen here on TN.
Beautiful photo, a bit small, but in splendid natural colours and good sharpness. Excellent timing with this eye contact.
Despite small size, the picture of this exotic bird is extremely attractive, Odile.
Your perspective is so good we get to see all the features of this male of the species.
