[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Away from my series of butterflies to something completely different. The Carnarvon Gorge is in the central Queensland highlands, well inland, but has great palm and fern tree forests. It is also home to a cycad, Macrozamia moorei. Some had large seed pods which were opening - they are much loved and spread by the local wildlife. Fire is required for the plants to set seed.
This pod with its bright red seeds was about 20cm across. |
