[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
We went for a walk in Licuala NP to see the biggest concentration of the iconic Fan Palm (Licuala Ramsayi). The are beautiful with their large over head leaves.
The palms grow up to 20m tall and have bright red fruit which once fallen are eaten by one of Australia's 2 large flightless birds, the Cassowary. They then scatter the seeds.
I'd hoped to see a Cassowary but had no luck, although my wife was quite happy about that as they can be dangerous. I had to be satisfied with just hearing the call of one.
