[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a male Satin Bowerbird (Ptilonorhynchus violaceus), a bird of the eastern rainforests, wet eucalypt forests and even urban gardens. They are a relatively common bird that can become reasonably tame around human settlement and places frequented by people. I found this one in the picnic grounds at Queen Mary Falls on the NSW / Queensland border.

Male bowerbirds construct a display area on the ground, which consists of an avenue of sticks cemented together with salivia. The avenue is decorated with blue, silver and yellow ornaments such as shells, flowers and even human objects such as drinking straws and clothes pegs. The male with the best decorated bower attracts the most females, where he courts them with dancing, a metallic wheezing song and lots of spell-binding wing flapping.

The male takes no part in nest building or rearing the young; hes too busy trying to mate with as many females as he can.

thanks for looking.

Hi Chris!
Your bird looks like shining of blue :-)
Amazing photo and fantastic pose.
Good work.

Hey Chris this is statuesque..What a beautiful capture. The eye color and the dull color of the bird are unbelieable. The wood and the legs of the birds are a little OE,but not very important.TFS

Very handsome bird. Eyes are indeed fantastic. Thanks for the note too.

Regards, Petru

Hi Chris

Well done on this capture. Good POV, nice depth of colour, tack sharp showing plenty of detail. Some parts are a little OE. Very nice work. TFS and a very Merry Christmas and safe New Year.

What a bird ! Looks like plastic to me. You did great, a bit over-exposed on some parts but a great capture nonetheless. Thanks !

I like blue!
Merry Christmas to you and to those whom you cherish, Chris, and thanks for sharing your beautifull pictures. I really believe that it is worth to make it to be in contact with our increasingly small world.
I am at Granby with my father. We have a great time together preparing the banquet to come for Christmas.
Take care my young friend.

Great shades of blue, unreal violet eyecolour, high impact! A bit OE, especially feet and perch (light falling through leaves sometimes does that to you...). Good shot in any case!
