[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
These are a troop of Fairy Bonnets (Coprinus disseminatus) a reasonably common fungi found in rainforests of south eastern Australia. They have the habit of growing out from the sides of rotting logs, so that the stems are often curved as in this image.

Thanks to Jan and Clive for correcting the identification.

This one was taken near Crystal Showers Falls in Dorrigo National Park, a truly beautiful world heritage rainforest park in northern New South Wales. In fact, of all the national parks of eastern Australia, I think this one is my favourite.

I didn't have a tripod with me, so I leant against the log to take this shot and used available light. The DOF is a bit short and the ones in the foreground are a little OE, but I liked the composition.

The cap is 1.5-2cm , at first globose, then broadly convex. The flesh is thin with a hint of blue. Gills are adnexed, white with blue margins. The stem is 1-2cm long, attached to the wood via a flatish disk. There is no smell. The spores are ellipsoid, smooth, hyaline. (A.M. Young. 2005. ‘A Field Guide to the fungi of Australia’ )

Nice family of interesting fungi. Very good composition, good sharpness and colors. I think this is not any Mycena, but some Coprinus, perhaps C. disseminatus or similar.

Nice composition even under trying conditions :) I like many know the feeling of not having a tripod when needed.

I have to agree with Jan I feel you have a troop of Coprinus disseminatus rather then Mycena interrupta.

An interesting thing about M. interrupta is that they are blue in Australia and green in New Zealand.
