Excellent capture with sharpness and good details on the body of the ugly bird.
exists something of noise of the image to bottom... but be unworthy of the presentation of the Kookaburra.
jajaja... seems that you had constrained the image and that the bird was shorter of which really it is.

Formiddable hardware this guy is boasting, this is a new one to me, thanks for posting, he is a lovely 'fisher!
When using USM, fade it a bit, then it is less obvious - it must enhance the picture evere to slightly, without being obvious.

As mentioned in a note, the S5000 is not a DSLR.
You did well in capturing this bird and the image is clear and sharp and detailed.
Well done on your work.

A very descriptive image withplenty of detail. I am impressed, I did not know that existed 40 Cm. kingfishers.
The head seems to be very big.
Very good note.

Interesting shot - excellent sharpness and DOF. As others have noted, the size of the head just doesn't seem right. Hard to believe it can fly.

Haven’t seen one of these guys before. What a bulky head? The hint of blue makes it almost a beautiful bird. But I love the photo. Very well captured.

Nice shot, it looks like a dwarf, with that big head. Formidable beak too. According to your note it doesn't eat "fish", alltough its a kingfisher, interesting.

This is not the first one I see on TN, but this one has a real personality. I can't believe the proportion between head and body. Strange bird (must be intelligent, I guess :))) . Well done, Chris!
