Christmas Bells (Blandfordia noblis) are erect tufted herb with long slender leaves and these beautiful large bells flows (50mm), which are produced for a few weeks around Christmas time. The plant is fairly common in heathlands and woodlands on southern coast and tablelands of New South Wales, especially those on sandstone geology.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a joyous Christmas and a prosperous new year. I thank all of you who have provided me with comments and critiques in the few months that I have been on TN. This is a great medium to share our love of nature and sharing your technics and expertise in capturing nature. I am certainly enjoying being here and hope to see many more exciting images in the coming year.

A n Excellent shot Chris!
The flowers are very clear and sharp and the DOF is great something that is a bit hard to get in the S5000.
And the color is not too red (what happens a lot in digital photography of strong colors).
You got a great shot with the S5000!
A bit less NI and you wouldn't have those littel spots of white on the picture, but the photo is great!

I like this photo. Good colours, sharpness, POV and DOF. Nice shot.

Well now. I realize that you had little to do with the subject being sooo beautiful, but you certainly did capture it in all its glory. For me, great job.

A supernatural flower... Perfect picture.

It's my favorite...

Thanks for sharing, Chris...

Beautiful wild flowers, Chris. Wonderful hues, very good DOF, despite f/2,8. Fresh little drops add to the natural feeling. These bells are really jumping out of the screen due to the good background putting them in evidence. Merry XMas and happy new year to you too.

This is very beautiful, Chris. The color of this flower is extraordinary and I love the smooth texture of the flower that you captured so well. The flower bells seem to glow. Well done!

Very nice shot Chris.
Great colours, good DOF and details.
Very well done.

Could have been great, but this kind of shots need stronger colors and better contrast.
It seems to me that focus is a bit too soft.

Chris, beautiful photo with a great title.

Perfect sharpness and excellent colors.

P.S.: I've been having some serious problems regarding my connection. If I "disappear", be sure I'll be back to check your photos as soon as possible.

Hi Chris
May the sweet sound of the bells also stay eith you through the comming year, and brighten even the dullest day!
A lovely bunch - they look a lot like some of our succukent flowers.

Hi Chris, great shot of the Christmas Bells. I haven't seen these yet so I'll keep my eyes open. You've captured great detail with this one, even to including the web, with dew. Your depth of field is great, with the blurred background. Looking forward to much more of the same in '07.

Thanks, John

Hi Chris,

This is an excellent close-up of these beautiful flowers, very nicely done!
