[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Laughing Kookaburra hunts snakes, lizards, small birds and rodents but consumes mainly insects.

The bird forms permanent pairs, which nest from September to January in a flat-floored cavity within a tree trunk or branch. The two or three eggs hatch 24 hours apart. The young fledge in 36 days, and are then cared for and fed for a further 8-13 weeks.

The young are not forced to leave their parent's territory on reaching maturity, but stay on in the subordinate role of non-breeders (only the senior pair breeds).

Hi Chi
Your title says it all, as this Kookaburra is well disguised in its environment and its colours match up so well with the darkish BG. That clear eye with the catch light does it for me.
It is a great composition with excellent colour and lovely sharp details. The BG is well OOF and non-distracting and the exposure was spot-on.
Very well done and TFS.

Hi Chi,
A beautiful portrait, I love the direct light in the dark environment, very striking. Excellent detail, perfect exposure giving us a hint of the background without making it distracting. Great shot.

Very nice capture of this Kookaburra the lighting is very interesting in this capture as it only exposes the head and breast mostly creating a pleasing effect. Well done Chi. :)
