[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Cassowary is a native flightless bird of the Queensland Tropics of Australia. They live mainly on fruits, the male raises the young. They've been known to kill humans with their huge clawed feet to protect their young, they atand about a metre high or so
This photo was pretty much a snap and grab one, this is the male cassowary and he and his mate had young with them, they were behind a fence but the female kept trying to attack me and my camera while I tried to get a decent photo

Good post Lisa. I like the pose and first time I see this strange looking bird. I tried a workshop as IMHO I felt the shot was a little dark. I hope you don't mind.

Very good shot!
This bird is really beautiful and you captured him very well.
The photo has nice atmosphere with shadow and spots of light.
I like the composition and colours very much, but the POV could have been better. You said about some kind of fence, so I suppose that you couldn't get lower POV.
Anyway I like it very much.
Well done!

Superbe sujet et bonne prise de vue. Les couleurs et la netteté sont parfaites. Juste une petite chose, le cadrage écrase un peut la composition à mon avis. Félicitation et bonne journée.

Oh my goodness, if looks could kill! This creature looks like a formidable defender of young, if ever there was one. I had never heard of these before. Great color and detail here considering the conditions that you describe. Thanks

I didn't know that birds had a carnaval :-)

Great shot, nice colours.
Well done.

Nice capture. A strange bird, very detailed with beautiful colors. TFS Iris
