Autumn Fall

This is a gift to all you Northern Hemisphere friends who are desperately waiting for your winter to end.

Do you know what this means?? It means that Autumn is nearly here Down Under, and that Spring should be on the way up there.

I found this in Auckland today. I had a few hours to fill in while ‘over the Bridge’ on the city side of Auckland, and I decided to so to Cornwall Park to see the spectacular trees growing there.

And this was the first tree I stopped at as soon as I saw this beautiful golden glow among the trees. I have no idea what tree it is, but I have a close-up of the leaves as a Workshop, so please, if you know what it is, let me know.

Cornwall Park is a landscaped park designed for the recreation and enjoyment of all the people of New Zealand. It has tree plantings dating back over the past 150 years. Remember NZ was only colonized about 200 years ago.

The park is famous for its landscape design and its wide variety of mature trees. It is centred on a volcanic cone, One Tree Hill, Maungakiekie (Mung-ga-kee-kee), with many interesting geological features.

We are experiencing very hot weather now in Auckland – and we, gardeners and farmers alike, are desperate for rain. We did have a few light showers today, but not enough to even wet the land.

And as pretty as this tree is, it was the ONLY one in Cornwall Park that I saw changing its colours!!! So it looks like Summer is still hanging on for a bit longer!!

A wonderful "studied" capture of fallen autumn leaves in your country, Janice.
Everything is finely balanced within the range of this limited shot.

Thank you Janice!
Hard to believe that your looooong summer will ends soon. Autumn tree, colorfull and dry leaves. I don't remember how summer and autumn looks like. I know only snow ;-) BTW - I like composition and POV on your photo.

Hi Janice,
A well composed shot, Good depth and very nice autumn colors. Nicely manicured lawn also :-) It's strange, this seasonal difference in your hemisphere..Well done!

Hi Janice, Great spring photo. Great colors, details, Great photo, TFS Kyle

Hello Janice,
This is a lovely picture with great autumn colours. As for the tree. Because of
the bark and leaves the tree looks a bit like our Ash (Fraxinus sp.). This is the first tree that changes colours in Autumn. In Poland it is called Jesion and Autumn is called Jesien. The name derives from the tree of course.
I'm not sure this is Ash, but the "golden glow" really suits to the look of ash in Autumn.

Hey girl, we have spring. I´m happy!
But you autumn picture is wonderful. Fantastic POV, excellent colours/lighting and great sharpness too. This is a excellent composition. Thank you for posting.

Hi Janice
Lovely thought, beautiful scene, and excellent photo.
The composition is great. I just love the three horizontal bands of colour, i.e. the bottom area with the leave cover, the middle with the green lawn, and the dark upper part with the foliage and shade of the trees. The colours are rich and well saturated, the DOF is good showing sharp details, and the exposure is perfect.
Very well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot
