Taken from the balcony at my brothers house. The effect of the setting sun through the wild, untidy pine tree was a sight not to miss. Thanks for looking.

Environmental Weeds

Wilding pines have spread from forest plantations or shelter belts and can shade out low-growing vegetation and replace the native plants in grasslands or shrublands with a monoculture of pines (e.g., Pinus contorta in Tongariro National Park)

Pines (Family Pinaceae) from the northern hemisphere can tolerate cold conditions better than native trees and can shade out native herbs and shrubs above the native treeline

Some exotic pines, such as Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) can tolerate shade and can invade native forest

HI Pam, I'm trying to work out where you shot it from. Not Lake Pupuke or from Hauraki area?
Yes, wild and untidy but the silhouettes of the pines and cabbage trees look so good with the colours behind. A good job!

Great view Pam. I like shapes of this tree, saturated colours and mood. Nostalgic picture.

Indeed, Pam: a sight not to miss - and how nice you didn't miss it. Great to know your brother has the privilege of a view from his balcony.

I like composition and the mixture between light and dark shades.

Pam I can't keep up with your posts I'm so far behind! Interesting shot and I love the silhouette tree although I'm not sure about composition. I may have preferred the tree a little more to the right although I know you wanted to ellipse the sun etc. 6/10 Well done.

great sunset Pam,
very well composing shot, the fantastic atmosphere the sihouettes, yes it's all lovely to look at, good job,
gr. Jaap

Hi Pam:

I love a good sunset, and this is a beaut! I agree, it's not one to miss, and I am glad you were able to capture it, and share it with the world! A lovely composition, with colours one only sees at the close of the day. Thanks very much for sharing.
