House Sparrow Facts

House Sparrows are a stout, stocky sparrow, with shorter legs and a thicker bill than native American sparrows. Members of both sexes are brown backed with black streaks throughout this area. Their undersides are pale buff. Males have white cheeks and a black bib, while females do not. The tail is usually three-quarters of the length of the wing. Males are slightly larger than females.

House sparrows eat various kinds of seeds supplemented by some insects. Rural birds tend to eat more waste seed from animal dung and seed from fields, while urban birds tend to eat more commercial birdseed, weed seed, and human trash.

Hi Pam,
Superb shot and great PP works. Sharp, detail, and neat image. Nicely framed.

Ben Lakitan

Hello Pam!
Beautiful shot with perfect exposure and sharpness. Taken at 180mm means you must have been able to get really close. Light wasn't really perfect but the details are well visible on the entire bird. Congratulations,
Mark

Hi Pam

Another very beautiful portrait, this time of a very cure little birdy! :) She is indeed posing for you ;)
Excellent POV, great framing and super sharp details are only some of the key elements in your beautiful composition. The light and DOF are also some of my favourites.
All-in-all very well done!

Bonita captura Pam, aunque el ave es ya muy conocida por todos nosotros, los detalles que se aprecian aquí en su plumaje y la expresión captada son muy agradables.
Excelente DOF y agudeza, con un trasfondo logrado muy atinado.
Saludos... Ricardo

Nice capture Pam, although the bird is already very well-known for all us, the details that are appreciated here in its plumage and the captured expression are very pleasant.
Excellent DOF and sharpness, with an achieved background very accurate.

Hi Pam,
A sparrow fledgeling! Could be boring, but you've really captured this chick in a fine way, especially the lighting and sharpness.
TFS, regards, Ivan
