[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the New Zealand pigeon, also known as the kereru. They are huge - at least twice the size of the common pigeon. Not very common, and their numbers are apparently dwindling: they and their chicks are easy prey for possums, rats etc, and illegal hunters. This one was photographed on Kapiti Island, a rodent, possum and human-free refuge off the coast a little north of Wellington.

A very sharp shot of this unusual and rare pigeon, John. A first time for me to see one, even in a picture. The colors are beautiful. Great POV. Well done and TFS. : )
