Species lleodictyon cibarium (M Raoul)

Common Name White Basket Fungus.

this fungi is normally found on the forrest floor but is also found in orchards and lawns gardens near trees or wood chips.

Height is about 150mm Width 150mm season is Autumn and they are not edible they are also very smelly.
Starts life as a puffball looking growth out of which comes the basket they only last a few days.
If you look bottom center of photo you can see the remains off the ball.

The photo has been cropped a little and sharpened after a little enhancement.

Hi David,
Nice shot of this tropical stinkhorn. Probably the focus was a bit soft on the original image and you tried to increase sharpness non-selectively, on the whole photo - but otherwise an OK image about a species rarely shared on TN. Thanx.

I have seen pictures of this particular fungi, but have never seen one in the wild. You did a fine job of capturing this interesting species while showing wonderful detail and excellent exposure. Well done!!
