Hello Janice,
No wonder you were thrilled to find a single specimen and it is perfectly in flower!
I love lupins too and have just planted a white variety and a blue variety!
You have captured this flower really well. The details of the individual petals is fine and I love how the light from the left has created shadows and tonal variations on the right.
My only advice, if I may be so bold, is to mention the choice of style. With the horizontal, it feels as if the flower has got in the way of the view. I think portrait would alter this. I have done a little w/s. Please tell me what you think.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Good shot. Purple Lupin matches the BG perfectly. Good depth of field.

Thanks much Janice...A fine close in and from your notes on mine a spectacular shot indeed and rare catch...There was a skit put together by Monty Python on Lupins or Lupines whichever....quite funny and ever since having seen it first, i always recognized them. funny how one thing influences another as a show did to me and now a picture by me did to you...small and intricate world!

Nicely framed, good technical quality and appealing DOF.
A lovely shot, Janice...the BG is simply superb...The subject is very well captured, but I can't help wondering what's below the flowers...And that's not to take anything away from this shot!
Cheers!

Hi Janice,
Wow what a specimen just beautiful, the colours are amazing, the light falling on the flowers is superb, and with the OOF scenery in the background just makes for a spectacular backdrop, excellent work, all the best,
Cheers Rick :)

Breath taking a capture. I love this sunbathed single lupine of yours standing in the foreground. And just as I look at and admire the sigle beauty,my eyes dart to see the BG, the lake and the mountains that are clearly visible. The best part is they do not distract the sight of the lupine, all of the elements in this composition seem to co-exist so well. REally wonderful.
Thanks for sharing this one....cheers

Very nice Janice!
I like the comp and DOF that has pulled in the BG so well, while still isolating the lupine in the frame.
Love the 5:00pm light from the side, great.
Very good detail and color, TFS this "miracle" with us today :)

Hello Janice,
A fine capture of a solitary spray of Lupin flowers with an excllent OOF lake and mountain landscape BG that really sets it of nicely.
Lupins originate in the USA but have become wild garden escapes practically everywhere man has settled. We see large stands of them by roadsides in many parts of Sweden.
TFS this beauty,
Ivan

Hi Janice, a well known flower! But so beautifully photographed by you!
The lupins are growing wild in Sweden nowadays, although I think their seeds have been spred from the gardens. But when I lived on Lupin-street outside Stockholm, I did not succeed to make the Lupins grow.

Lupines are one of my favorite wild flowers, I have a few that grow in my front yard and are blooming right now. I liked this view with the blurred background, showing the environment where it is growing. The strong sunlight makes it just glow!
Your note made me smile, I so often get thrilled over a special "find" while out hiking, or I'll notice wildflowers on the side of the road. My husband laughs at my excitement, but it's nice to see someone who understands, take care Janice, good to hear from you again.
