[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Red Deer found looking over to an adjacent hill at a stag that was defending his harem during the roar, or rutting season. This mating season starts with the first frosts in April (in New Zealand). Stags could be heard bellowing.

In the late 60's deer farming became legal, has developed and now forms a major part of NZ's agricultural income. Venison and antler velvet harvested from stags is exported.

These three Red Deer live in the beautiful Deer Park Heights near Queenstown, home of many "Lord of the Ring" sites.

I do wish that the sky had been bluer, with a few decorative clouds perhaps, but not so lucky for this shot... I hope you enjoy anyway.

I love this image Jennifer. The composition needs special mention as it is stunning.

Very well done and thanks for posting

Good shot Jennifer. The deer all looking the same direction is actually quite funny :)
