Hi Steve,

Nice capture of this young Kea, you can clearly see those wonderful markings in the plumage, and around the eye the detail is excellent and that beak looks pretty powerful and menacing, nice work t.f.s

Hi Steve,

A beautiful portrait of this young Kea. What a wonderful face he has with that hooked beak and the yellow eye circle. Excellent details and the subtle colors of the feathers are superb. Their behavior reminds me of the problems we have with bears. Can't imagine a bird vandalizing a car!

I thought Steve comes with an special one as the Kiwi but no the young Kea.

Nice close-up of a juvenile Kea Steve.
The sharpness allows us to see the plumage details against a fine blue sky with good light management and the shot is well composed.

Yes, I have seen your pictures of this Parrot earlier too, Steve.
In this image, you have presented the bird in portrait form.
The fellow looks cocky and confident. No wonder these birds are aggressive.
The picture is excellent and the sky provides a nice BG.

Happy New Year, I hope you'll be more silly and naughty in 2009!

I'm rather dissapointed with your first picture in 2009. This bird looks like bird and nothing more. No claws, bloody fangs, red eyes and action. No Tyranosaurus Rex or at least Sabretooth Tiger... Hmmmm, I hope this Kea is bloodsucker like rabbits from Monty Python :-)

Extraordinary bird for me. Not for you, I guess. Extraordinary through that bill and the overall greenish colors. They look cheeky in a way.
The yellow ring around the eye, indicating its a young bird is very visible in your work.
