Hi Steve.
Good close-up shot, sharp and good detail. Has that slightly yellow cast to it on my screen, but that aside, well done.
Not sure on the grasshopper ID, try looking up the Field Grasshopper, Conocephalus species, also known as tussock katydids. So far three species are known, short and long wings. They can be green or brown and the female has the long spike tail and brown on the top like yours. The picture I have in my book only shows the view of looking down on it, so I can't quite see the face.

Hello Steve!
At first I would like to congratulate you your first picture of... well, really not a grasshopper unfortunatelly :) The difference between grasshoppers and crickets (here is one of them) is simply to observe even for the first view: crickets have very long antennae, much longer that a head while grasshoppers have much sorther antennae - usually not longer that a head.
Anyway, excluding this small entomological correction, the picture is really nice for watching :)
Best regards,
Radomir

Great work Steve! This is really rare grasshoper. I can ID it easily as Gardenis lordpottae. Very green, with something spiky in its back area, six legs and silly face. Excellent!

Hi Steve,
Just acknowledging this wonderful shot. Superbly done. Wish I could write a few more words, pity my net problem does not allow that. Sorry.
TFS this awesome shot.

Hi Steve, we have a very similar looking species here in the UK. Nice composition and you did well on the sharpness and DOF considering you had next to no light to play with. Well done.
