Here is another little cutey on my deck. He was after a bit of apple I'd strategically placed there lol. I have noticed that they do this funny little wing flutter thing, when they are near food. It is almost as if they are warning off any other bird that wants to try and get any of their food. They are incredably brave little birds, to come so close to a human. which is something I love about them, they are fearless and very couragious.

Hello Nicki,

Fantastic photo.Great shot with excellent composition.Lighting and colours are very good.

Hi Nicki
Good close up shot with excellent feather detail - you'll be well pleased with the results you are getting from your new camera! I've noticed the wing flutter as well, and often two or three birds will happily share the same apple but other times just one bird will take to another, which makes me wonder if it is two males that are being territorial while otherwise happy to share with the females? A hint that was kindly passed on to me: if you put the food source between the perch and the camera you'll have them facing you more often for the shot.

These little chaps are great for photos. I have the same problem as in this photo wings flapping and trying to get them in focus. Nice shot.

Hello Nick,
Good, narrow picture, excellent colours and the good sharpness placed on the head of the little bird. Surely he looked on You and fluttered with wings. Very nice depth of the sharpness, excellent dynamics and good POV.
Best regards,

Hi Nicki,
Very nice shot and a nice little bird with fascinating colour composition. The sharpness is well and situated on "correct" place of the bird and that makes it ok and perhaps it is an advantage for the picture with the blurr on wings and tail. It makes it more "lively". For me, me living in northern Europe it is amazing to meet the bird fauna from another continent. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Nicki,

A Lovely close up of this little Waxeye, excellent detail I really like the motion you’ve captured in the tail movement, beautiful colours, well framed and composed.

Cheers Rick :)

Beautiful bird Nicki. I like the pattern of colours it has. Your DOF is good. I think a bit more space in front of him would balance it better. All around a great shot! TFS Trevor
