Stethaspis suturalis
(family:Scarabidae)

The Tanguru Chafer is similar to the Mumu Chafer (Stethaspis longicornis) but larger, brighter green, and with a yellow gold stripe down the middle and around the edges of its thorax.
Found throughout most of New Zealand during the summer months in most kinds of forest.
The large grey and white grubs feed on the roots of plants and the adults can be seen and heard flying at dusk on summer evenings.

Hi Steve,

Great to see You here again MF! Welcome back! Beautiful "green against green", color-wise a minimalistic shot, but at the same time quite pleasant to the eyes (at least to mine). Nice macro. Congrats and tfs.

Best regards from Your Hungarian friend, László

Hallo Steve
The beautiful arrangement of different greens in this image creates a tranquil and relaxing feeling looking at it. This is a lovely image, not just because of the bright colours but also because of the clarity of the details, especially the fine hairs on the body and paws. I like the full framed composition very much, just as I like the closeness of the beetle to the screen. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
Anna

Hello Steve,
A fine macro of this green Chafer, the Tanguru. The greens of the Bg as well as the chafer are a joy to see when we are surrounded by whites and greys.
Your new compact, same as Ulla's, is well used to make good use of the low lighting to achieve excellent sharpness and colours.
Nice to see you back on TN!
Thanks and cheers,
Ivan

NB: Thanks for liking my shot, really appreciate it.

The green insect merges well with the green surroundings in this very sharp and crisp image, Steve.
It has been months since I looked at your work; my new job has almost completely deprived me of the pleasure of spending hours on TN each day or going out shooting.
All the same, I am thrilled to see your picture and thank you for sharing it.
Hope all is well with you.
Regards.
Ram
