[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Sundew, (Drosera stenopetala), maori: Wahu
New Zealand native carnivorous plant

New Zealand has six native species of sundew, three of which are alpine; five of the six native species (all except D. stenopetala) are also native to Australia.

This photograph I took along the Heaphy Track within the Kahurangi NP, South Island, New Zealand. I used a reflector for fill lighting. (alu- cardbord from tip top ice cream container, small and light weight and good to have handy). The camera has been on tripod, mirror look up set and shutter release cable has been used.

Hello Thorsten
A fascinating plant, I saw a documentary of this species and it was amazing how they lure and traps, insects. Great composition and colors. Well done!

Hi Thor,

Beautiful shot of the plant, very unusual looking, but beautiful nevetheless. The sun bust shape make it feel like some kind of sea plants, the center looks a meaty fruite of a kiwi slice open. Yum!

Beautiful and natural color, good compo, and lovely details.
