How’s this for a holiday camp? Want me to make bookings for you this summer anyone?

This is north of Whangarei, and just below the Bay of Islands, on the east coast of New Zealand. South America is way, way, way . . . in the distance.

This is Motutara Farm, a 75 hectare sheep and cattle farm in Whananaki North. The property is owned by Bruce and Helen Barron; it has been in the Barron Family since 1915.

This farm stretches across two beautiful Pohutukawa fringed beaches, Kings Beach and Barrons Beach. The camping area is extensive, spacious and picturesque; the layout of the camping ground is unique. The camp is divided into distinct areas.

Kings Cliff is about peace and quiet; just the hiss of the surf on the beach below your tent and the breeze in the Pohutukawa trees interrupts your solitude. Pitch a tent on Barrons Cliff and have a view to die for, out along Barrons Beach and over the expanse of the Pacific Ocean to the Poor Knights Islands. Barrons Valley gives shelter from the weather. Relax in the shade of Pohutukawa trees and dream of the next fishing expedition or wax the board ready for the surf.

One cliff has sites with spectacular views, access is right down to the water in the second bay. You will be spoiled for choice here; take your pick, sea view, green valley or beachside. This is a working camp, so you will need to be self-sufficient. Just cold water showers available, and pit toilets. There is no power here, but freezer space is for hire. Cooking fires are by permission only. Please leave your dog at home. Your hosts the Barron family live at the camp entrance. Charges for adults (over 12 years) are $10 each with a minimum site charge of $20 in peak season.

Clear, wide open, beautifull. I almost feel first breaths of NZ's summer. You're lucky Janice! Bookings sounds good - maybe not this summer, but later - who knows ;-)

Hi Janice!

Beautiful seascape (landscape). We don't see that many good one on TN. Most pictures are animals pictures or plant pictures. However I have see few beautifull landscapes.
Your is sharp and well exposed. The nice composition put the horizon on the upper third, and you have beautiful clouds in your sky. Foreground has some depth and the road brings us to the sea.

This composition makes me curious... Where is that winding dirt road leading to..? I like the contrasty trees here, in an almost silhouetted appearance... Altogether the lines in your image are very appealing
