[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [Spanish] |
A pic from my last and marvelous voyage to northeast Argentina.
These are ants feeding on oranges, the rst of desert dinner, we have lay them over a small wall, some hours later there was a lot of ants, I don´t know the exact ID, but a re very similar to Acromyrmex lundi, only varies a bit on colouration, this one is a bit reddish and we have in my town, 1200 km to the south are more black.
This species are leaf cutters and could be a serious danger in cltives and garden. The leaves are carried to ants nest inside, processed by ants mouth and carried to chamber where there are mushrooms who feeds on this leaf paste. Ants only feeds these mushrooms, and venom factories makes products that attacks the fungi.
In this case there are no problems with plants, in the jungle are huge amounts of plants
Thanx for viewing!!! |

Hi Hernan, finally something to different on TN! This is a very great macro, fantastic idea and perfect realisation, the details and the colors are impressives,my best compliments, have a nice week,Luciano

Hi Hernan.
Funny them and attractive shot. I like wonderful orange palette and fine POV. DOF is shallow a bit but it is not a point. Unlike you I have not nice ant picture yet. My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei.
It is a sort of abstract picture, Hernan. The predominance of yellow colour gives the ants a strange outlook. Their limbs, partially in focus, intensify the feeling of abstractness to the image.
Seen with your note, it is an interesting presentation.
