Diagnóstica Description : It measures 86 cm. and weight 1,2 kg. Its neck is extremely long and thin; the head is small, the long and acute tip and long and wide wings and tail.

In the adults the plumage of the body is black bright; it presents/displays a silverplated pattern of points and rays in the lanceoladas pens of the mantle and covers of the wings, and the end of the tail is white anteada.

The male presents/displays blackish head and neck (black bright during the reproductive time, with scattered white pens.

The female exhibits head and neck anteado coffee (with ornamentales pens white anteado at the reproductive time). The rainbow is red. During the time of young the skin of the face is green bluish brilliant, and the rest of the time is parduzca, the legs are black.

The immature individuals are similar to the females although more coffee, specially superficially (with few silver-plated adornments).

Habitat: One is them in lakes, rivers with slow currents, fresh or salty water lagoons and manglares.

Reproduction : Its nest consists of a platform or hemisphere not very deep and little elaborated, made of wood branches and dry leaves, covered with green leaves. They are located in a tree, of 1,5 to 6 m.s on the ground or the water. They nest in not very together, as much single small groups as in greater colonies of other aquatic birds. They put of 3 to 5 bluish eggs of green color, covered by a layer with white color chalk that quickly coffee spot. They reproduce of May to February, with a tip between September and November.

Stationality : They carry out local migrations due to the change in the level of the water in its habitat.

Feeding : Fish and frogs feed themselves on.

Behavior : Often when swimming they show solely to its neck and its head. They invest to long time unfolding its wings in a hanger.

Distribution : They are from the central part of E.U.A. to the west of Ecuador, north of Argentina and Uruguay.

Something a bit different from the rest of your gallery.Quite a strange looking bird with an interesting variety of colours...especially those orange feet!I like the angle and perspective from above and you've caught a good pose.The texture of the water is almost oily.

An excellent shot on this Anhinga as he dries his wings. Great exposure with the nice colors and very sharp detail. You have to love their eyes, very strange looking. Nice shot.

This is veeery unusuall post from you and it's a very interesting shot too.
The bird looks very nice and you've captured it in a very nice pose. I'm not a big fan of such POV's, but I guess you didn't have possibility to change it for a lower angle.
The picture seems to have a little washed out colours, but overall it looks good.
WELL DONE!
