This river, making it's way to the far away Atlantic ocean is in the Beni plains. This is a typical savanna grassland area that is flooded every year. You can also see the gallery forest that grows along the river.
Taken during a flight from Trinidad to Bella Vista.

from wikipedia:
A meander is a bend in a river, also known as an oxbow loop. A stream or river flowing through a wide valley or flat plain will tend to form a meandering stream course as it alternatively erodes and deposits sediments along its course. The result is a snaking pattern as the stream meanders back and forth across its floodplain. When a meander gets cut off from the main stream body, an oxbow lake is formed.

A meander is formed because the river flows faster on the outside edge of any small curve and slower along the inside edge. Deposition of sediment occurs on the inner edge because the river, moving slowly, cannot carry its sediment load, creating a slip-off slope. The faster moving current on the outside bend has more erosive ability and the meander tends to grow in the direction of the outside bend, forming a river cliff. This can be seen in areas where willows grow on the banks of rivers; on the inside of meanders, willows are often far from the bank, whilst on the outside of the bend, the roots of the willows are often exposed and undercut, eventually leading the trees to fall into the river. This demonstrates the river's movement.

Hi Shir,
What a color contrast between the blue colored river and the land. It must have been a super clear sky to give the water such a stunning color. The flow of the river is really beautiful and you can tell that it will change course in some places. Ofcourse, the view is spectacular.

Hi Shir!

This river is really sneaking! I like its shape with many meanders. Colour is superb. It looks like sky reflected on Earth. Pictures from planes are very rare on TN, thanks for this one!

Most interesting.
I like very much the composition and the usual clearness in your shots.
I envy you about how many beautiful and different places you visit.
I can imagine the big amount of strange insects wating for macro photographers down there :)
Best regards, MF.

I love it! Very well taken, when considering this is shot from a plane. Excellent composition and very sharp focus. I like it.

What an extraordinary lanscape here!
Great the reflected blue sky. A winding and whimsical flow of water.
Beautiful ilumination, and the colors of the surrounding forrest and savanna are stunning.

Curiosa imagen de estos meandros. Siempre he oído la frase: "el agua busca su camino" y en estos casos es cierto porque en algunos años estas curvas pronunciadas se secarán y el curso del río será otro, más recto quizá.
Interesante nota explicativa Shir.
Un abrazo, Juan Luis.

Hello Shir.

Excellent picture, nice composition and colors.

Hi Shir,

That river is indeed snaking its way to the sea...a good geology lesson. The color is amazing. The air must be very clear for this to look so sharp.

Thanks for sharing

Hi Shir

This is simply breathtaking! The colors here are WONDERFUL and the contrast between the blue of the river and the green in this light looks magnificent.
Also the exposure is excellently managed and the sharpness is impressive considering its shot from a plane.
Great work!

Bravo and TFS

Hello Shir,
An interesting view from above on the winding river!
Well framed scenery and good details, lots of stuff to study here...
A nicely composed presentation!

Hola Shir,
Bellos y acentuados meandros, muy realzados por la reflexión implecable del cielo. Nunca vi unos meandros tan próximos a extrangularse.
Un saludo, José M.

Hi Shir.
Very unusual (for me) scene and POV. Great and original colours: amazing combination of bright-blue and bright-yellow tones. Great details of all objects, even short shadows. Very interesting and well done work. TFS and my regards.

Hello Shir,
Una maravillosa vista de los meandros del río y de la vegetación que la rodea. Me gusta la textura de la imágen y el azul que reflejan las aguas.
Buena foto!

Hello Shir, nice inflight shot!
