Known as Mariposa-hummingbird (Macroglossum stellatarum), these insects are given this name by the unusual feature of resemblance to hummingbirds. Besides looks, the animals are called so feeding on nectar from flowers just like a hummingbird.

Hi Paulo.I been in Brazil me too in this month but i haven't seen the hummingbirds.Your post is a great capture,not easy to take this specie very nervous and always in mouvement,an excellent shot made with fine details and correct exposure,i like it! Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano
