[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

There isn’t much information to find on internet about this bird, so I used the book of the Pantanal.

The Rufous-sided Pygmy-Tytant, euscarthmus rufomarginatus, is 11 cm.
Rare in shrubby cerrado; overall numbers depleted by habitat destruction and disturbance.
Brown above; short buffy whitish supraloral, rufous crown patch. Wings and long slender tail duskier, wings with two ochraceous bars and edging. Throat white, below pale yellow, sides and flanks ochraceous. Female similar.
Found singly or in pairs; generally inconspicuous except when vocalizing. Song, given with throat puffed out, a rapidly repeated chattered “cht-cht-cht-chiririreét, cht-cht-cht-chiririreét....”.

Hello Peter, Congratulations on another first for TN!!
What a lovely close-up shot of this pretty little Rufous-sided Pygmy-tyrant. Quite an attractive bird and displaying exceptional detail in it's plumage. Nice look at it's facial features and you even captured a bit of catchlight in it's eye. A real beauty Peter!!

Thanks Peter for bringing this great collection Natural TN is the image of this Euscarthmus rufomarginatus. One of the many species that resist corralled such as extinction, destroyed and minimized the ancestral habitat. Congratulations on finding good hunting and that you have achieved in the Pantanal, mate.
