[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
After my last posting of a bird in flight, the Yellow-headed Caracara, two weeks ago, I start today with new in flight photos.
First A NEW BIRD FOR TREKNATURE: The Large-billed Tern.
Not all in perfect quality, but Learning About Nature Through Photography.

The Large-billed Tern is about 38 – 40.5 cm.
It is locally fairly common in the Pantanal, mainly along rivers, sometimes feeding around nearby lakes and ponds. A large tern with a bold wing pattern and short, slightly forked tail. Heavy yellow bill; legs dull yellowish green.
Breeding adult has crown and black ear-coverts ; back, rump and tail grey; lores and underparts white.
Nonbreeding adult similar but with some white on forecrown.
In flight shows a very contrasty pattern with large area of white on greater coverts and secondaries, black primaries. Large size, stout yellow bill and flashing wing-pattern should preclude confusion.
Often found in small groups, regularly resting on sandbars but also sometimes perching on low branches.
Nests in colonies with Yellow-billed Terns and Skimmers on sandbars.
Most often silent, but this species can be quite vocal around its nesting colonies, giving loud squealing calls: “kreeah”.

Hello Peter-Thank you Very Much for your another New Species here in TN.Against blue sky it looks nice.Eyes portion is dark black,but no problem.....I can easily see the catching light on its eye.Good sharpness and colour.Regards and thanks for sharing-Srikumar

Congratulations on introducing another bird to TN's gallery. It is a very good shot with good sharpness and details and a very good contrast with the blue sky. It is not easy to take decent shots of flying birds, well done. Yes it has a distinctively large bill as compared to yellow billed or whiskered terns. Thanks for sharing,
