• Vernonia homblei De Wild. [family COMPOSITAE], in F.R. 13: 207 (1914). Syntypes: Congo (Kinshasa), Lubumbashi [Elisabethville], Bequaert 459 (BR!, syn.) & Homblé 269 (BR!, syn.)
• Cabobanthus polysphaerus (Baker) H. Rob. , in Proc. Biol. Soc. Wash. 112: 228 (1999)
Herb; stems glabrous. Leaves sessile, narrowly oblong, 4–7 cm long, 0.6–1.2 cm wide, rounded at the base, serrate, acuminate, strongly veined, glabrous. Capitula sessile in clusters of up to 5 in the axils of the upper leaves; involucre 9–12 mm long; phyllaries 5-seriate, lanceolate, 3–8.5 mm long, acuminate, pungent, especially the outer white floccose-tomentose, glabrescent. Corolla purple, 9 mm long, lobes 3 mm long, with a few ascending stiff hairs below the apex. Achenes subcylindric, 3–4 mm long, 6–10-ribbed, ascending-pubescent; outer pappus of narrow scales 1–1.8 mm long, inner pappus tawny, of shortly barbellate setae, 6–8.2 mm long. Fig. 47.

Very unusual flowers, very interesting looking. Nice sharp shot with the white flowers contrasted against the dark background too.

gosto muito da maneira como vc se expressa para apresenta-las a nós, com um trabalho bonito de enquadramento e emolduramento, e que não aparece nesta foto em especial, mas certamente tem sua marca e personalidade... linda luz que realça sobremaneira a textura das mesmas...
