[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It's a hummingbird, and shooting this was hard. The nest is well hidden and protected among the leaves. Light conditions were very bad, so that getting focus wasn’t an easy task. Once more, thanks to Eduardo, a friend of mine who got a ladder for me to climb on in order to take the picture.

What I find amazing is how well constructed the nest is. It seems to be comfortable, warm and cozy. The ideal procedure would be to take a shot day after day, to keep up with the hummingbird’s growth, but I don’t know if this will be possible, for here where I live summer rains occur almost every day. Despite that, I intend to try to take other pictures of the little bird. At first, I thought there were two siblings, but I was mistaken. The creature’s size is approximately 5 centimeters.

The mother can be seen on www.treknature.com/gallery/South_America/Brazil/photo6295.htm

Well, you certainly got a great result as a reward for your efforts ;-))
Tack sharp, good POV, light and colours. It's interesting to notice how the bill at this stage has very little resemblance with the bill of the grown-up hummingbird ;-)

I'm looking forward to more pictures in this project. WOW, excelent capture. I've never seen the humming bird nestling stages. This is going to be interesting.
Well done.

Super fine picture Livio. This unique shot is also very interesting in what it tells about Hummingbirds. Thank you for the informative note and pic!

You got it Livio. Well done. May this little chich one day give you great photo's to post on this site. Good work

My first question was "How did you ever get this shot?" but you answered that with your note, thank you for that. I imagine not too many people have seen a sight like this. The sharpness and focus is wonderful, you did well for such hard conditions.

TFS.

Better and better, Livio. This one is a rare subject on TN, and a very good photo too. This critter must be just a few days out of the egg. Were you able to catch parents bringing food? With the beak open, it should occur regularly. You might have a chance to see it progressing if you're around.

Aaah, how nice, new hummingbirds have to grow up, wiating for their parents, a very nice one, Livio !

I have been fascinated with hummingbirds for so long yet never even caught a glimpse of a baby or its nest. what a joy this photo is! I also didn't know that their beaks were so small at birth. Amazing. Thankyou for taking the time and effort to capture this event. Also, kudos to Eduardo.

I am updating all my "comments" to "Critiques" so that you will receive the points I thought I gave you....
