Hello JeanMarie,
tahnk you for posting this impressive insect and example of camouflage. Besides that the insect perfectly mimics the twigs it shows an interesting form of the head. Well discovered and presented.
Best wishes, Peter

Salut Jeanmarie
WOW! Now this definately is a great example of an impecable camouflage!
Indeed for us europeans it's very difficult to identify a species from the southern hemisphere, but in this case i could probably be of a little help: as i know you've seen (thanks for the great critiwues, by the way) i also have picture of a very similar animal. It is an Orthopteran, part of the Acridae family and it really resembles yours...maybe that is useful to you :)
Anyway, i like the POV and details here, the colors - very similar to the ones of the environment's, and the good management of the exposure.
A great composition and post!
Bravo and TFS

Hello JeanMarie,
unusual insect you are showing here well taken with good details, and with perfect demonstration of camouflage.
No idea about the ID, either. But the insect looks quite similar to the southeastern european "slant-faced grasshopper" Acrida hungarica (Order: Orthoptera, Suborder: Caelifera, Family: Acrididae), and it might be closely related, but your specimen obiously comes without wings - I wonder whether it is just a nymph or an adult insect. An approximate idea of the body length in mm in the notes might be of interest.
Thank you for sharing! With best regards,
Peter
Ricardo
A spectacular model the one that has posed for you in this scene JM.
Excellent capture with good DOF and focus showing good details of this wonderful insect.
The bottom is something confused for what the same mimicry of the insect confuses its silhouette lightly.
I made a Workshop modifying the levels and the noise of the bottom...
I hope you like it.
Regards... Ricardo

Hello Jean-Marie,
I am always amazed but those strange insects. I don't think that we have them in my country or I do not see them :) You caught good details in a nice POV and composition with a beautiful natural BG. I also liked Ricardo's WS. You had very good eyes to see it :) Thanks,
Claudine

Hi JeanMarie, This is a very good shot of the walking stick. You have captured it in excellent detail. It really does look like just another twig.
Thanks, John
