[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This insect belongs to the Orthoptera order, where the grasshoppers, crickets and katydids are.
I don't know the scientific name. The animal looks like it has two heads, and the red one is more attractive probably to distract a possible predator from the real one .
The picture was taken in a farm with an old coffee plantation, in Amaga, state of Antioquia, Colombia. The altitude is 1.400 m above sea level.

Hi Juan,
an interesting insect, it is amzing what nature comes up with to camouflage. POV (point of view), colors and the sharp details are great. Nice composition and great first post.

Wow... an impressive first post.
This is a fascinating shot... a perfect example of nature's cunning ways for survival. Your capture shows excellent focus and exposure. The colors are beautiful, and the POV is fantastic, with those legs out on each side.

Very harmonious picture of this beautiful grasshopper, with its interesting coloration. Nice composition with these double diagonal lines formed by its sticklike body and amazing perpendicular hind legs. Excellent throughout sharpness, and details. Thanks for showing, Patrick

Asombrosa especie de saltamontes! Has capturado unos excelentes detalles y hecho una muy bonita composición. Los colores y la exposición son muy buenos.

Hallo Juan, this is an excellent presentation of this grasshopper, showing confusing outlines caused by the unusual orientation of the hind-legs.

Hola Juan,

Hello Juan!
What a nice and interesting species of Orthoptera! And what a strange pose! Usually legs are placed along body - not like here on your picture.
Nice coulours and composition. On the other hand, with better DOF this grasshopper would be better because at this moment some part of head and thorax are not sharped perfectly :)
Best greetings,

Certainly the strangest grasshopper I've ever seen!
Your gallery is absolutely amazing. Must be really nice to have so many subjects to photograph:D

Hi juan,

Amazing insect. Really the tail looks like head.
Well presented with nice POV & details. TFS.
