Scientific name (Nombre Científico): Caria mantinea Mantinea Green Metalmark
Order (Orden): Lepidoptera, Family: Riodinidae

This butterfly was very difficult to photograph because is not too big and don’t allow you to get close´. The emerald metallic scales produce the coloration through the diffraction of sunlight by a series of minutely spaces ridges on each scale of the butterfly wing.
The picture is not too sharp but the beauty is worth to share.
Taken in jpeg and cropped.

Place: Finca La Velasquez, Cimitarra, Santander.
Date: abr 30 2006

Hola Juan,
