Butterflies of Manu #2
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Unlike in the city, in Manu laundry day was the most exciting day of the week, since we were camping on a very remote location we had to wash our clothes in the river, at the smell of both dirty (actually filthy)clothes and soap, butterflies gathered by hundreds to feed on either salts form the sweat or soap. The diversity and numbers of butterflies were staggering, most of the butterfly shots I will be posting on the following days are from laundry day in Manu.
As you can see this one is feeding on a washed t-shirt I left on the sun to dry. Hope you like it! I apologize again for the lack of ID.
Thanks for looking

Hi Simon
I'm sorry about the ID.
I think is a vanessa specie!
Great details and colors.
Congratulation!

Hello Simon,
once again I can give you the name of the butterfly: Baeotus baeotus from the family Nymphalidae.
Best wishes, Peter
