This is a sample of adult female.
As with most members of the genus Argiope female of the species tends to be much larger than the male. The body of Argentat Argiope tends to be mainly silver with brown and orange color, with a mainly brown belly. The legs have bands of orange, black and silver. The female can be up to 35 mm in length, while men tend to be 20 mm or less.
Like almost all other spiders, these species are harmless to humans. Like most garden spiders, eat insects and are able to consume prey up to twice its size. Are known even sometimes feed small bats. But unless you want to defend themselves, have no interest in biting humans. Their venom is not considered a serious medical problem, despite often containing polyamine toxins with potential as therapeutic agents.
Argiope spiders is a genus of the family Araneidae araneomorfas including large and spectacular spiders that have a great sexual dimorphism, with females (approximately 2.5 cm) around 3 times higher than males (approximately 8 mm). These species are remarkably colorful and abdomen are distributed throughout the world, in countries with temperate climates have one or more species with similar appearance. |
