[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
With the promise of snow in the air again today, I cannot help but retreat to my archives for reassurance that spring may yet make its reluctant appearance.

The Wake Robin belongs to the Trillium family (3 petals, 3 sepals, three leaves) and is much smaller than its white cousin, which is the provincial flower of Ontario.
I am hoping that posting a flower by this name will act as sympathetic magic and awaken the robins to announce the arrival of spring. (^o^)

Hello Silke,
This is a very nice composition that shows it all with no negative space. Exposure is as good as it can be, keeping sufficient highlight detail. I enjoyed reading your note, too. Hope the spring is around the corner for you.
Best wishes,

Hello Silke,
Lovely close up.Well caught, framed and composed.Colors, details and framing are also excellent.

Hi Silke
Belle et intéressante composition photographique pour cette Jolie fleur. Très jolies couleurs et bonne netteté.
Merci et au revoir...JP

This register is so well focused that the tiny pollen is CLEARLY visible.
Cannot suggest improvements; it is PERFECT.
Love the white trillium; wish I had made a photo of it while I lived in Ontario.
Greetings from Calgary,

Quite an attractive image of this lovely flower from Canada from your archive, Silke.
So you have been doing some excellent work with your Coolpix too!
I like the sun and shade effect in this picture.

Hi Silke, fantastic flower, splendid light and fascinating colors, very well done, ciao Silvio

Silke a trilium , unlike an iceflower has a three-dimensional bloom... That presents a special challenge when you take a close-up. Suntoucher presented an interesting view of elephant tusks recently. In that shot the distortions due to PoV and DoF was "interesting". Here we see the effects of the upper petals being closer than your focal point, and so being out of focus. I would suggest a different PoV that keeps in mind the distance to the lens of the relevant parts.
That's about it for my suggestion for improvement. HIH.

I further note that the Wake Robin is also known as Trillium erectum (aka Purple Trillium, Birthroot)

The colour here is gorgeous and true! Tfs, Jay

Hello Silke,
Nice sharp and close-up presentation of a species of Trillium new to me. I hope it does the trick of bringing on Spring in your part of the world.
TFS this interesting flower and note,
Best wishes, Ivan

Hello Silke,
Attractive colour palette, the red and the green contrast well here!
Nicely composed image with the pollen all over...
Good details in this delicate plant!

Hello Silke,
I love this composition a lot and the way the flower occupies the entire frame. Details and exposure are superb and so are colors. I had the same thought than Laurent and then I told myself that it was as it was with no sun in the center and it is OK like this :-) Thanks,

Hello Silke,
a little longer and we should see them bloom again. Wonderful details and great colors.
I like the POV and the frame filling composition.
