[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This young bird was waiting for her mom to return, and probably forgot what she was told to do when strangers come to close. Later in the summer she became very cautious and I could not approach her anymore.

I took this picture last summer, in the small park (Wabukayne) across the street from my house, where I take most of my pictures.
Hand held, no flash, not from a blind.

Cool Facts(from All About Birds)

The Belted Kingfisher is one of the few bird species in which the female is more brightly colored than the male. Among the 93 species of kingfishers, the sexes often look alike. In some species the male is more colorful, and in others the female is.

What a cute pose of this young kingfisher, Mario,
He is really quite colorful for a youngster.

Very nice composition with the diagonal branch, the warm colours in the BG and the angle of the bird. Great sharpness and perfect with the sparkle in the eye! I like this a lot and wish I get the opportunity to see this great looking bird!

This will be a favorite of mine!
