[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Silver Breasted Broadbill ( Serilophus lunatus) is one of seven broadbill species in West Malaysia. These small (12 - 14 cm) birds are very colourful and can only be seen during the nesting months of March to May although in the books it says until July. The male has a distinctive white unbroken necklace whilst the female has a "broken" white necklace. They are lovely looking birds very much like somehting out of an animation series from off the screen!

Hello Phil
Quite like one from those animation movies....one feels it can start acting and talking and flying around right away.
Very very beautiful, the eye contact, the details of the feathers and also the perch....Beautifuly shot.

Hi Phil

What a wondeful little bird you share with us and so beautiful with fabulous colours including the lovely blue beak, I thought he had a little surgical collar on in the thumbnail, the detail is spot on, excellent POV and pose and lovely lighting. I'm going to look it up on the net now.

Hello Phil,
Excellent capture of the Silver-breasted Broadbill, an unusual bird on TN. This is sharp with good colour and lighting. If this isn't a captive bird you seem to be fortunate to capture him if your note is anything to go by: the begining of the nesting season?
TFS a species new to me.
Regards, Ivan

That is such a strange looking bird, Phil.
My first thought was... It is not real... It is a cartoon bird!
And then I read your note. ; )
This bird's amazing features and gorgeous colors are well shown here with sharp details and excellent exposure.
Thanks for showing us such an unusual bird. : )
