[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This picture was taken in the Sabyinyo mountain range of Rwanda. After hours of treking through the thick undergrowth, we came upon the Hirwa group of mountain gorillas. The interaction of this baby and mother was an incredible site to see. There are estimated to be only 730 mountain gorillas left in the world (according to our guide). This is a huge increase from around 250 in the 1970's, but is still considered to be highly endangered. Thanks in advance for your comments! |

Hi Dan,
It is just wonderful to see these animals photographed in their own habitat. I am just amazed how close you were able to get to this mother with her baby. I am sure that it must have been an awesome experience. I really like the eye contact and the intimate feel.
TFS,
Niek
