[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Rainbow Falls is a beautiful waterfall on the Wailuku River near the northern outskirts of Hilo. The falls are so named because you'll often see rainbows in the mist that rises from where the falling water strikes the large pool.

A lower water voulume from lack of rain splits the water fall. After regular rains the volume is much greater. This water fall drops about 100 feet into the pool. I was there early in the morning before direct sunlight hit it so I could use longer shutter speeds to soften the water flow. After waiting for the sun to hit it for a possible rainbow shot. Some locals stated the volume was two low. The mist churned up by the large volume was not present. So this one appeared to be my best capture.

Scott, a very nice effect upon the waterfall. A great and pleasant shot.

Nice composition and pov.

Scott, You've created a very nice effect. The water almost looks like a stream of light pouring down to the pool below..Great job!

Great shot Scott, i agree with Howard that it looks like a stream of light. Great exposure control.
My only nit is that there is nothing to gauge size by, this waterfall could be two feet or a hundred feet drop.
Still like the image though.

Very lovely waterfall scene, would love to explore inside that deep looking cave. I'd bet you'd get pretty wet getting there. Nicely framed with greenery all around.

NIce somposition, but 4 seconds was maybe a bit too long, did you try it 1/10?
Well done.

Very nice shot of these falls even if there was no rainbow. I like the long exposure.

Nice capture Scott,
I love these water shots on a long exposure. It shows the real power of water.
Nice detail, thanks for posting

Beautiful waterfall and you did an awesome job capturing it.

Beautiful shot Scott, with good speed on the water, well done.

Nice waterfall Scott. Maybe another time for the rainbow included ;-). Great PoV. Well composed.

Maravilhosa igual as do Brasil !

It looks like a nice place. Would love to be there at the bottom of the falls though. Very nice shot, Scott. The slow SS added a nice effect to the water. Well done.

No rainbow?????? Nice falls.....

Very awesome shot. I like the smoothness of the waterfall hitting the pool. the 4 second shot seems perfect. I bet it was really pretty dark, huh? The composition is perfect.

Wonderful picture Scott. If you close your eyes after viewing this picture you can picture yourself there and enjoying the calm and peacefulness around. With all the hustle and bustle going on in our world today it is nice to be able to sit back and enjoy the beauty God has given us. Love the colors and the way the pray just fans out when both waters connect. Beautiful. TFS Dawn
