Murder on wild flower!
Great photo Sebnem. I hope in Poland we will soon have incects too! As I posted yesterday - spring came!
Good capture. The spider is a crab spider, possibly Thomisus onustus. You are right, it does not spin a web, but waits on flowers to kill the insects that come for the nectar.
Its colour is highly variable and usually mnatches the flowers for camouflage.
The bee had been dead for a while when you took this picture, because crab spiders always kill their prey by biting the neck - which provokes immediate death. It is only later that they change the point of attack to suck the prey dry.
God lighting and excellent composition. Pity the abdomen of the spider is out of focus.
What a vicious spider Sebnem. Good notes from you and Philippe. You were very close to them. I think you were lucky to catch them. Good POV and details. Well done!
Agree with Philippe about ID. I like those little predators - its ability to camouflage is amazing. Crab spider was my first picture on TN :-) You can see it here - http://www.treknature.com/gallery/Europe/Poland/photo2767.htm
Yours Sebnem is excellent - I like moment and POV. Pity about the focus.

Very good capture, good macro shot and documentation of this catch, it is just pitty that the focus point is not accurate, I think you should choose higher F value to get wider DOF.

Well spotted. A great action shot, although not for the poor bee!
Well done and thanks for sharing.

An interesting action shot of this Crab Spider,Sebnem.
You mentioned it was windy.I think the blurriness here was caused by the plant moving in the wind, not by yourself. It is very hard taking macros on plants on a windy day, even if you do have a steady hand or a tripod.
You got a good action capture though.Well done.

Sebnem, Cool shot! Love this spider with prey. Looks like the spider is getting ready to suck the fluids out of the bee (gross I know!) Hope you can get your hands on a tripod because it would make this great shot even greater! TFS.

It is a war shot Sebnem,
from shall I overlive ore not. In the beginning I had mad on TN a couple of meat eating insects made. That was the first I must think an when I saw it. It's a shame it's not whole in focus, but I know it is the moment, and you needs some luck with it. Okee, but still I like the good job. Gr. Jaap

Very good capture Sebnem,
you did well to capture this shot without a tripod. This is a really fascinating image, well done for getting this moment.
Thanks for posting

Terrible shot.Good captured moment.
Good composition.It's a little soft.I think
cause of wind.
Sebnem, you managed to capture a very great moment. That's nature, and that's what this website is all about.
Great action, great drama.
I tried a little workshop; I hope you like it.

Hi Sebnem, the colors and lighting of this photo make it look like a painting. The spider is very impressive, and you managed to capture it and it's prey very well, especially considering the low light. TFS!

This picture is very impressive and I had never seen a crab spider at lunch this close.
We perfectly see that the spider is sucking the content of the abdomen of the bee.
Although the focus is not perfect, it is a great nature scene.

Goodness gracious! This predator spider is literally gouging the entrails of the bee out in this action shot, Sebnem.
The syndrome SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST is fully at display in this great snapshot. Your struggle with camera settings must have been a natural reaction to shoot this drama in real life as quickly as possible.
Great macro in both content and form.

This is a MAGNIFICIENT capture.
We saw in Iguacu, Brazil huge spiders & their webs. We saw a small bird stuck in a web; the spider was all over it. It
was so cruel but, that's life. Have a B/W of this register.
Maybe I'll post it here.
Anyway, I dont know the name of your subject either. But
your notes are truely "classic" reports of your great
contributions to TN.
Congratulations. And, friendly greetings from M.

Drama of nature in it's purest form, eating fellow insects is the only way to survival...
A fine image of high informational value!
